Dear Wagner Community,

These past two weeks have been an incredibly difficult time for our nation, our city and for our school community.  I have spent time mourning for the families who have lost loved ones too soon, I have spent time feeling angry that this pattern of violence continues to happen over and over again, and I have spent time feeling motivated to lead Wagner Middle School to be a place that fights systemic racism and injustice.  I understand that education is an essential component to fixing the systems that have been broken for far too long.  We have a long road ahead of us but I am committed to continuing this work and the fight ahead.  Wagner Middle School stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and we will work to end the disproportionality that is a plague to us all.

I want to thank all of our community members who participated in our Community Conversation last week and I want to share that our Equity Team will be facilitating follow up conversations by grade level this week for students.  The first conversation had over one hundred participants and we want to ensure that each student has a chance to have their voice heard.

The sixth grade conversation will take place on Wednesday at 12:30 PM

The seventh grade conversation will take place on Wednesday at 10:30 AM

The eighth grade conversation will take place on Wednesday at 2:30 PM

I look forward to our continued collaboration.  We are all in this work together.
