Dear 8th Grade Families,

We will be starting our study of the Holocaust and World War II in Social Studies next week.  We want you to be aware that some of the content is of a sensitive nature.  Throughout this unit, students will be learning about sensitive topics, such as prejudice and discrimination, and how those concepts have impacted historical events and students’ own lives. Our hope is that your child will be able to make essential connections between history and the moral choices they will face as they grow.

We will be using many resources from Facing History and Ourselves    https://www.facinghistory.org/ , The Museum of Jewish Heritage  https://mjhnyc.org/

and the United States Holocaust Museum   https://www.ushmm.org/.

Be assured that our 8th grade team has taken great consideration to age appropriateness of the content and the pedagogical materials that will be used during this unit. We encourage and are hopeful that you and your child will have meaningful conversations throughout this unit.  Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.
