March 20, 2020

Dear Wagner Families,

We hope you and your loved ones are well. We recognize that this is a challenging time for students and families.

At this time we would like to provide you with information about how Remote Learning will look at Wagner Middle School for the upcoming weeks.

Remote Learning from Wagner will begin on Monday, March 23rd. Our teachers have been working hard this week to plan for Remote Learning to continue to provide students with quality instruction during this period. Please know that this has been an enormous task for our teachers and staff, and we appreciate your patience as we work through any unanticipated challenges together. Please understand that guidance from the New York City Department Of Education about Remote Learning citywide may change in the coming weeks, and we may need to adjust our plans accordingly.

For Remote Learning, we are using Google Classroom, which is already familiar to the majority of our students and families.

Daily Attendance Procedures for Remote Learning

During remote learning, student attendance will be monitored to ensure access to learning and student safety.  Attendance procedures are outlined below:

  1. Students must log in to their grade level Google Classroom and complete the grade level attendance form by 10 AM each instructional day.  Please ask your child to find their grade level classroom in their Google Classroom beginning Monday, March 23rd.  This will count as your child “attending school” for the day.
  2. This form will be reviewed daily by each grade level team after 10 AM to identify and report student attendance.
  3. If your child does not complete their daily attendance form, you will receive a call from a Wagner Middle School staff member.

Please know that these procedures are subject to change as we work through the procedures for remote learning.  Thank you for supporting your child with accessing remote learning and staying engaged during this time. In order to ensure your child is able to participate in remote learning, we have launched a “grade level attendance form test” for them to complete today.

Remote Learning in Google Classroom

For the duration of Remote Learning, core courses (Math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies)  teachers will be posting daily lessons to Grade Level Google Classroom pages for each subject. For other courses, that meet less frequently during the regular school week, lessons will be posted a minimum of 2 - 4 times per week for the duration of Remote Learning. Assignments for all homeroom classes will be found in the Grade Level Google Classroom class. For example, all 6th grade homerooms will go to G6 ELA Remote Learning for their ELA lessons.

We are hoping to have all students assigned to their appropriate Remote Learning Google pages by 8:00am on Monday, March 23rd. When students log on to google classroom (, they should see these new Google Classroom pages for Remote Learning in addition to any Google Classroom pages previously in use by their teachers. If they do not see the Remote Learning pages, students can join the classes for their grade level core courses and other courses by using the join codes below:
