Dear Families,

The health and safety of all students and staff continues to be my first priority in the wake of the evolving situation around the coronavirus in New York City.  Please know that we are taking steps at Wagner Middle School to support our students to ensure their health and well-being.

Prior to lunch, students will be escorted to a sink that is supplied with soap and hand towels and directed to wash their hands.  Please encourage them at home to follow hand-washing procedures.  Our Science Department has planned an age appropriate lesson dealing with the topic of coronavirus and will be teaching the lesson to students this week.

It is very important to remember that this virus can affect anybody.  Please remind your child that Wagner Middle School is an international community and many of our students and staff members have family members in countries that have been most affected.  We need to be sensitive and respectful towards one another during this challenging time.

Some helpful resources that you can use to speak to children about the Coronavirus are included below:

Talking to Kids about the Coronavirus – Child Mind Institute:

Just for Kids:  A Comic Exploring the New Coronavirus – NPR

We welcome donations of hand sanitizers, disinfecting wipes, paper towels and tissues.  Everyone should continue to practice prevention measures including covering your cough, washing your hands often and staying home from school when you are sick.

Thank you for your continued support.
