Dear Seventh Grade Families,

The National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) spent three days at Wagner last week and spoke to all of our seventh grade classes.  The focus of this workshop was to bring awareness to various mental health issues and to encourage students to ask for help when they need it.  The facilitators spoke about various coping strategies and how to assist a friend who might be having thoughts of suicide.   We hope that you will take time to ask your children about this presentation.  We can help our children by having open and honest conversations about mental health and by removing the stigma that is often attached.  Mental health awareness is very important to our school community and we hope your students found these presentations to be valuable.
