Reminders:

  1. Students are required to purchase a lock for gym class. No items should be placed in lockers without combination locks.
  2. No skateboards, scooters, or similar items are to be permitted in the school building.
  3. We ask that students pick up their trays and other items, and dispose of them in trash cans provided during their lunch period.
  4. Reminder to parents to fill out the on-line blue card at: https://www.mybluecard.org
  5. Please be sure to return the signed Media Consent Form and Housing Questionnaire that was in your child’s Welcome Folders.
  6. Absent Forms Update: After your child has been out sick and they return to school, please send them in with a hand-written note, written by you the parent, or a letter from the doctor. Your child should drop the note/letter in the red basket  located in the main office, labeled "Absent Notes"

    *Please be sure to put your child's full name and class number on it before your child puts it into the basket.

  

Tryouts: Reminder for parents to please register on Manhattan Youth’s link if your child is interested in any of the following tryouts. All students must also bring a signed permission slip in order to be allowed to try out.  https://manhattanyouth.org/programs/robert-f-wagner-school

  1. Cross Country: Tryouts for the boys and girls cross country teams will be held on Thursday, September 12th, and Friday, September 13th. We (students only and coaches) will meet in the gym after school and you will be escorted to Central Park.  You MUST HAVE A SIGNED CROSS COUNTRY PERMISSION SLIP to try out. Permission slips can be picked up outside Room 102. You only need to attend one try out. For Questions, please see Coaches: Ms. Schnapper in Room 109.(Coaches: Ms. Schnapper and Mr. DiSarno)
  2. Varsity Flag Football: Any 7th and 8th graders interested in trying out for the varsity football team, must attend tomorrow’s (September 10th) tryout at 7am. The date is September 10th, 7AM. Students will not be able to tryout unless they bring a signed tryout slip with them.  VARSITY FLAGG FOOTBALL Permission slips can be found in the gym for 7th and 8th graders only. (Coach: Mr. Marty)
  3. Boys Soccer: There will be a mandatory meeting (students only) on Wednesday, September 11th, at 8:00am, in the auditorium. Tryouts will be held this Thursday and Friday (Sept. 12th & 13th). Please see Mr. Spitzer in room 309W with any questions. If students miss mandatory mtg, they should see Coach: Mr. Spitzer in room 309W right away.  6th graders trying out for the soccer team will be trying out on 9/12 after school. 7th and 8th graders trying out will have tryouts 9/13 after school! 
  4. Girls Volleyball: Tryouts will be this week. 6th graders will tryout Thursday, Sept. 12th, after school. 7th and 8th grade tryouts will be Friday, September 13th, after school. Tryouts take place in the school gym. *All students who try out, MUST BRING A SIGNED PERMISSION SLIP. If you have any questions, please see Coach: Mr. Danishefsky, in Room 332.
  5. JV Flag Football: Tryouts will take place later this week. Details will be announced and blasted soon.
  6. Wresting: There will be having a mandatory information meeting for wrestling on Thursday, September 12, 2:45 pm in the gym.  All are welcome and information will be given out on tryouts (dates, times, expectations), as well as the Wrestling permission form that is needed in order for a student to try out. No student can try out for wrestling without a signed permission slip. (Coach: Mr. Coffin). 


Auditions:

Drama Club Announcement:

  1. Please sign up with Manhattan Youth to show that your child will be auditioning for the Drama Club.  https://manhattanyouth.org/programs/robert-f-wagner-school
  2. This year’s musical will be The Addams Family! Auditions for The Addams Family, will be held next Wednesday (Sept. 18th) and Friday (Sept. 20th), after school in the auditorium.
  3. Sign-ups for audition times will be posted outside of the main office by tomorrow.
  4. To audition, please prepare a one-minute song.
  5. Please note that rehearsals for Drama Club this year, will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays, after school.
  6. ***Students who are interested in participating in the Crew for Drama Club, please know that Drama Club Crew will not start until after school’s second session in November. Rehearsal days for Drama Crew will be Wednesdays.

 

Jazz Band:

  1. Please sign up with Manhattan Youth to show that your child will be auditioning for the Jazz Band.  https://manhattanyouth.org/programs/robert-f-wagner-school
  2. Follow this schedule for jazz band auditions:
  • 9/11  3:00pm-4:15pm  Jazz Band informational meeting, audition music distribution, and student practice session. Please note:  As the Jazz Band has not officially begun yet for after school, students may sign out after the meeting.
  • 9/18  3-4:15pm  Auditions for rhythm section (piano, bass - upright or electric, guitar - electric, drum set). Note: Students may sign out when their audition is over.
  • 9/19  3-4:15pm  Auditions for brass (trumpets and trombones) Note: Students may sign out when their audition is over.
  • 9/20  3-4:15pm  Auditions for woodwinds and others (saxophones, flutes, clarinets, viola, etc. Note: Students may sign out when their audition is over.
  • 9/25  3-4:15pm  First Jazz Band Rehearsal!

1. Students should plan to bring their own instrument except drum set (students should bring sticks), upright bass, and piano.
2. We will provide amplifiers.
3. Students enrolled in a band class may check out a school-owned instrument on 9/11 if needed.

 

Library Announcement: As of today, the library is open during recess and before school.

  1. Each student coming to the library is required to have a pass. *Ask your homeroom teacher for a pass for lunches or see Mr. Colon in the cafeteria before school, for a library pass.
  2. There is no food permitted in the library, so students must go to the cafeteria first to each or breakfast or lunch, before heading up to the library.
  3. What can students do in the library? They can read books, play quiet games, work on a puzzle or use creative supplies. They can also complete homework or use the computers to print out work or do research.
  4. Library Hours: Mornings: 8:00 AM and for recess, the following times depending on  your grade:
    1. 6th grade: 10:55 AM
    2. 7th grade: 11:40 AM
    3. 8th grade: 12:25 PM
